Carboniferous gasfield within sandstones in the Sabden & Bowland Shale Formations

The Cloughton-1 well was drilled in 1986 by Bow Valley and flowed gas from Namurian & Dinantian-aged sandstones. Remapping of the gas discovery shows a large anticlinal structure which contains over 4000ft of stacked gas-bearing sands within mature gas-prone organic-rich shales.
